The events of last night have caused me to re-evaluate my priorities for my (sizable) tax return:

Old plan:
New CPAP, New glasses, Roomba, Money set aside for cons, pay down credit.

New plan:
New CPAP, New glasses, get car fixed again, pay down credit.

Plan B to be determined by events:
New car, New CPAP, New glasses.

Check out this story about a couple of guys who went to the post office to buy stamps and were questioned by the police and a postal inspector because they didn't want stamps with flags on them.

I have traded one type of anxiety for another. I no longer have to worry about if I'm going to get them out on time. Now I get to worry about whether I'm going to get the financial crap beat out of me by the IRS and IL DeptRev for the weird paperwork or some i I forgot to cross or something.

I got a new driver's license today. It was a fairly painless process, overall. Stood in 3 lines, waited to be called twice, paid $14 (because I also got a State ID, else it would have been $10) and I was done. about half an hour all together.

I have finished doing my taxes except for one brief letter of explanation. I am quite relieved.
And I'm getting back a total of around $2k! (someday. Filing an extension, filing the return on basically the last day of the extension, and having to use a substitute W2 are all going to delay my refund, I'm sure. I'll be lucky to get it this year, ( Read more... )
